President's Message
Southfield Kappa Foundation is a certified non-profit charitable organization which has served Metropolitan Detroit since 1992. Our Mission is to Award College Scholarships to deserving local students. In addition, we deliver Community Outreach Programs such as Thanksgiving Food Baskets to those in need, Christmas gifts to children through the Saving Kids of Incarcerated Parents Program, Youth Mentoring and Reading Literacy to Elementary Students.

SKF Activities Over the Past 12 Months
- Supported Kappa League Leadership Academy Which Offered Mentoring, Academic, Leadership And Life Skills To 30 High School Students
- Distributed 220 Thanksgiving Turkeys And Food Baskets
- Donated Christmas $250 Gifts Certificates To The Saving Kids Of Incarcerated Parents (SKIP)
- Hosted community health fair with Detroit Community Health Connection and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Southfield Alumnae Chapter
Fiscal Year: 2025-2026
Goal: Raise $650,000 annually for 2 years for a total of $1,300,000 by Dec. 31st, 2027, to fund Scholarships, New SKF Center, Community programs/events, and Outreach initiatives.
Mission & Impact Goals
The Southfield Kappa Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is committed to supporting youth education, health, and community enrichment. For the 2025–2026 fiscal year, the Foundation will:
- Award 30, $1,000 scholarships to deserving high school students
- Renew 15, $1,000 scholarships for current recipients
- Feed 200 families facing food insecurity with Thanksgiving Turkey
- Secure $350,000 in Grants and Foundations
- Secure $225,000 in Corporate Donations
- Events & Campaigns raise $25,000
- Host a community health fair in partnership with Southfield organizations – Vendor tables $2,500
- Giving SKF Fundraiser Commitments
- Presidential Klub $1,000 (30) = $30,000
- Harry G. Franklin $500 Klub (50) = $25,000
- Individual $200 Pledges (100) = $20,000
- Collaborate with Highly Favored Productions on a Love & Laughter event as a fundraiser.
- Provide program registration fees, transportation, and meal costs for 50 high school students
- Secure funding for the purchase of the New Southfield Kappa Foundation Center (Estimated Purchase Price $750K)
Fundraising Approach
To achieve the $1,300,000 goal by Dec. 31st, 2027, the Foundation will implement a multi-channel fundraising strategy over the next 2 years that includes:
- Individual Giving: Launch annual donor appeals and recurring giving programs
- Grants & Foundations: Pursue education, youth, brick & mortar, and community health grants from regional foundations
- e. Kellogg Foundation; Ford Foundation; The Kresge Foundation; Michael and Marian Ilitch Foundation; etc.
- Corporate Partnerships: Engage local businesses and sponsors to support scholarship and health initiatives
- e. DTE, ATT, Delta Airlines, Detroit Pistons, Detroit Lions, Gilbaine, etc.
- Events & Campaigns: Host community-based fundraising events and digital giving campaigns
- Kappa League Fundraisers, Healthy Walk, Shoe Drive, Beautillion, DAMPS Golf Outing, Love & Laughter, Giving Tuesday
- Major Donors: Cultivate long-term relationships with high-net-worth alumni and supporters
Stewardship & Accountability
All funds raised will be managed with transparency and integrity. Donors will receive regular impact updates, and the Foundation will publish an annual report summarizing outcomes and financials. Progress will be measured through scholarship disbursements, community engagement metrics, and donor retention rates.
